How to focus when you video yourself

One reason I got a D5200 was the flip out screen to make it easier to video myself. One problem I have is with focusing from setting up the camera to getting in front of the camera, I can't get myself focused. What is the best way to get good focus on yourself when you video yourself?

best way is to put something in the chair youre going to sit in and focus on that in manual. then move it and sit there. it doesnt matter if you move a few inches. better than the AF mechanism in cameras that pump back and forth that make you nauseous.

The Curtis video gave me a general focusing tip I will use when shooting myself and others, using the digital picture zoom while focusing so I can get a close up view of what I am focused on. This is a great tip for me because I often have trouble seeing the focus in normal view.

Could try that AF-A mode where it will continuously focus and re-focus as needed. Assuming you'll have plenty of light and won't move around too much, that could be the easiest bet.
