Focusing question - selecting a point?

Hi,

I have my D3200 set to single point focus, single servo. When I look thru the viewfinder, I see the 11 focusing points. All good. I depress the shutter button halfway to autofocus, but only the focus point that illuminates in red is the one to the very left. I don't know why it's picking that particular point, but I'd like to change the focus point to the one in the center for now - how do I do that?

Thanks much!

Think on the 3200 is the same as most others
just use the up down left right pad on the back of camera to select the focus point you wish to use

If you're seeing all 11 AF points, it sounds like you most likely changed your metering to single point, while AF is still using matrix.

Use the arrow pad, then keep your thumb off it while shooting unless you WANT to change the point of focus.

I generally use the center focus point and lock it in place so It doesn't get accidentally changed by touching the the control navigation button.
