Aperture priority question

Hi, I just purchased a Nikon D3200 which I am still learning how to use. I put the camera in Aperture priority mode and took some photos outside in afternoon lighting. For some reason, I was not able to adjust the aperture setting to below 4. Normally I can change it to 3.8. Does anyone know why this is??

Nevermind, I found the answer online. The max f-stop changes depending on how the lens is zoomed

Correct. It's also dependent on the minimum aperture of the lens.
