White balance

Howdy peeps, just a question about auto white balance.

I have 2 D4's. If I set them both to auto white balance and take a photo of the same thing, my white balances are quite significantly different? It is all easily fixed in lightroom, but I just thought it strange.

Anyone else experienced this with their cameras? Even if they aren't D4's - has anyone with 2 of the same body noticed different auto white balance between their cameras?

Perhaps 1 firmware is slightly different - I might check that tonight.

No - usually 1 has the 24-70 f2.8 on it and the other has the 70-200 f2.8 on it. Would a lens make a difference to white balance?

Hmmm. Good question. On the one hand, doesn't seem like it should, but on the other, I can imagine a different view making for a different result.

Were both set at 70mm?

I think do a test with the same lens and see if it makes a difference.

Saturation, contrast and color can all vary between lenses, but I wouldn't expect much difference between those two lenses.
