MB-D10 question?

I have a MB-D10 with EN-EL4a battery. I also have a battery in the camera. I set it to use the MB-D10 battery first but it seems to be using the camera battery instead. The fps is 5 and not 8.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks

With an EN-EL4a battery in the grip, why do you still bother with a battery in the camera? My D300 will run all day, in freezing weather, on just one EN-EL4a alone... Save the trouble, and the extra weight, and ditch the smaller battery. MHO

If you have the battery pack and have set the settings to use the battery pack first, I would just take the battery in the camera out and leave it out. I have two battery holders for my MB-D10 and just fill them high amp-hr rechargeable batteries. If I should ever need to remove the battery pack for some reason, I keep the camera battery in my bag in a zip-loc baggie. The only time I need to do that is when use my PB-6 bellows which is infrequently.
