2 Questions on Flash

The flash in my camera is not doing everything I need it to do, which is to be expected... Should I get both a speed flash and a bounce flash? What's the lowest priced bounce and/or speed flash that will work with my D3100 that's quality?

The Nikon SB400 is a great little flash, it can be flipped up to bounce off the ceiling. It goes for about $120. If your looking for a more "pro" flash, all of the more expensive Nikons are good. I'm not familiar other brands, but I'm sure others will respond with their experiences.

A speed flash will allow you to bounce. There is no dedicated "bounce" flash. If you can find an SB-600 on E-Bay, you'll be able to do great things with it. And like Rick said, the SB-400 is a great little speed flash for the money. Either one, you can't go wrong without breaking the bank.
