Waiting by the waterfall

Anyone care to comment? Taken with my d5100 and 18-55 kit lens at 1/4s, f22 iso 800 hand held. Rotated in light room but otherwise straight out of camera.

I really liked the heron sitting b waiting for its moment.

Hi Marko! Nice shot with a lot of potential. It seems a bit out of focus, or it could be diffraction due to f22. The tree chops it up and I think I would have shot around it. I like the smoothness of the water and the Heron adds a nice element to the falls. A very nice scene!

Thanks for the comments. I was just out in a walk when I saw this scene so didn't have tripod with me. I thought for hand held I did alright.

I was in Shutter priority at iso 800 which is why the aperture was about high, I think your right iso 200 would have opened the aperture up and give a sharper image.

I forgot to say in the original post the lens was at 55mm, do you think that would matter? I would normally be using my 35 prime but had been shooting family earlier and wanted the wider lens.
