My first day off in Springerville, AZ

Today was my first day off since I got here so I decided to load up the camera gear and start scoping out the place. I spotted this group of Mule Deer does and their fawns chilling out under a shade tree in the middle of a large field. I pulled the Jeep over to the roadside, grabbed the 600mm, D700 and tripod and set up. The became aware of me pretty much immediately but were not alarmed. I was still a good 50± yards from them. I found a place not far from where I am staying that is full of mulies when the sun starts going down. I will head out there tonight.

I took off south and stopped at this roadside overlook. The peak in the distance is at 10,000 feet MSL and is the third highest peak in AZ I grabbed the 35mm and took 3 exposures and gave them some mild HDR treatment. I did not need the polarizer, the skies up here really are that deep a blue.
