Black and white or color???

How do you decide on a black and white or color shot? Sometimes you just know...but other times I can't decide. How do you do it?

The decision is a personal choice. Put two copies of the shot on the screen, one in color and the other in B&W. If you like the B&W better then that is what it should be. Your choice is the only one that counts. B&W almost always looks better with a lot of contrast. In this case the B&W shot looks to be on the flat side so I vote for the one in color.

This looks like a really high quality scan of a vintage photo. If not, it's some really good editing and post-production of the image to capture that feel.

Don't leave out Sepia Tone. That particular shot would look fantastic as a vintage sepia.

Okay so here is a vintage style Black and white. And a little darkening and lightening.

Not a scan. A fun shoot I did this past weekend. She wanted the vintage feel.

It is also taken in front of a Antique Store

I like the last image, vintage B&W, the color one is too washed out (I realize that was the objective, but I think it's overdone)

I think the revised B&W is better. Sepia may improve it even more, try it.

I like the color one.

LOL yes that is the one...its not nearly as dark as yours but that is a little to orange for me. This has the sepia filter over it.

And an actual Sepia action ran over the image.
