Today I attended a friends do, at the flying club in Delhi. As it is too hot for the lawns, he decided that it would be indoors, hence I took only the 35mm with me. At ISO 400 and some at 800 the images were quite noise free as long as they were exposed properly - that is +1EV (that is the buffer Nikon has).
As it is easier to both post and read shorter threads, I will split the images.

1. Venue is the Flying Club, in the old airport, which is now defunct as an airport for normal persons, but as it is next to the residences of the political brass, they use it for short hop to the main airport. The club and a lot of offices are still there.

2a. Snacks. No party is successful without plenty of alcohol and snacks. Chicken is the most popular snack item as it is cooked fast in a Tandoor. For vegetarians there is usually Grilled Paneer (Cottage Cheese). The grilling is either on an open flame rig or in a Tandoor.

2b. Food - Lunch buffet.

Counting plates - as the rates are per head, and the usual scam is to inflate the number of persons, the practice is for both the sides to count the plates before the buffet starts, and then if they fall short, add a fixed number. At the end the number of plates remaining are subtracted to account for the total heads.

4. Individuals. The party was hosted to celebrate the start of the Puja. It starts on the 1st day (23rd September) of the new month of the Hindu Calendar. We wre all asked to come in traditional attire - men in Kurta and either Dhoti or Pajamas, and women in red bordered saris.

Your photos bring back great memories when I spend 6 month in Goa and six month at Sri Lanka. (27 years ago). It was such a great impressive time.

Thanks for sharing your photos
