CPL & photographing tropical fish

I will want to photograph tropical fish both close-up & macro. They will be in their regular tank, or perhaps a small display tank.

As I would be photographing through glass, would a CPL filter be desirable? With room lights off & close to the glass, I don't assume there will be reflections, but are there theoretical reflections or flare that would affect quality? I can't use flash for fish due to welfare considerations.

Equipment: D610 (probably) & 105mm micro

CPL would help if you're shooting them out in the wild, on a sunny day, at that 45-60* angle through the water surface. A fishtank will be fine shooting bare-back.

CPL mostly takes off the harshness and reflections of the sun.

That would be great for anyone whose ever traveled and tried to shoot scenes from out of hotel room windows - and I'm not just talking about shooting into other hotel room windows!! ;)
