Most cost effective f/1.4 lens for D300

Hi,

This is a first time post for me here, so big apologies if this question has been answered (several times) before.

I am particularly interested in acquiring an f/1.4 prime lens, but at the moment cannot even contemplate buying a nikkor lens. So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips for either any old lenses that might work well with some kind of hacking / adaptor. Or, any other brands that make affordable 1.4 primes.

The wider the angle the better really, but I'm very open to an 85mm also! :)

Thanks ever so much - I really appreciate your time and advice,

Tom

p.s. if anyone wants to sell me their old one I'd certainly consider it!

Have you considered either the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 or the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8. Not quite the speed of a f/1.4 but both very sharp lenses and neither one are very expensive. I use both lenses on my D90 and both are superb in low light, hand held.

Hi Joseph,

I have a 50mm 1.8 and am really pleased with it, I was really hoping for something a bit faster and a bit wider really. Thanks though for the advice!
