With this shot I thought it looked best in pure black and white - what do you think ?

Absolutely best in BW! Good choice. Read your blog . . . what an interesting place to photograph . . . looks like it could be haunted!
Good shots, jdeg!

Cool shots! Lots of railroading history tied to that place, I've done research on it before. Photos just don't do justice to the sheer size of steel mills though, those places are enormous!

Really... a little thing like a fence kept you out? lol..You will never get your paparazzi card that way. :D The shots you were able to get are really good. That place is fantastic and well worth trying to find a way to get in and do some shooting. It's just full of very strong vertical lines. Inside the fence where you can get the camera level, with a wide angle lens and vertical format it would hardly matter where you pointed the camera to get great shots.

haha Joe - na, the thing that prevented me from going in was the fact that it's owned by a casino and there were signs that said it was under surveillance, which I believed because it's a casino. I found some older photos which didn't show nearly the amount of fencing that is there now. I still could've easily gotten in though.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I like the photo a lot too! B&W was a great choice but if I could by the fences a little HDR might be fun also. Thanks for sharing it.

I actually have an old building planned that is fenced so I'mm gonna see if I can get around them.

I actually just got Transformers 2 and realized a shot in the movie is very close to the angle I had on the shot above:

I see they edited out the 3 stacks too

I think your shot looks much more dramatic, jdeg. I like the 3 stacks in the photo.

Most of them are linking back to this page, so I don't care too much. I guess I should start watermarking some more things :)
