Cleaning camera after using it in dusty environment

I just came back from a safari and the area was really dusty.

The outside of my camera got dusty quite often but I didn't change my lens unless I was in the hotel room.

Do I need to do anything besides wipe off excess dust from the outside of it?

I need to somehow clean the camera strap one day too.

I just don't want to risk getting dust in the camera at a later date.

After a trip to the desert I use a 2" paintbrush (of decent quality) with synthetic bristles to knock off the big chunks and then wipe everything down with a damp microfiber rag. I then check the sensor for schmutz with a sensor loupe and clean it if necessary.

As for the strap, can you toss it in with the laundry? That's what the girlfriend and I do with our sling-straps.
