Lens "sales"

Does Nikon ever discount lenses? I have seen rebates, but only when buying a body with it. Buying online seems to be the cheapest way, but I notice the prices never seem to fluctuate much (at least never downwards!). Just curious, usually things go on sale the day after I buy them.

I have never seen Nikon stuff on sale, other than locally, and even then, online is cheaper. Thats why I buy gently used for the most part. just spend tons of time researching, asking questions etc. it's worth the savings. I have yet to be let down.

If you are looking for cheaper Nikon lenses, try refurbished items from Nikon. Same stuff as brandnew.

With my last lens purchase, I found a friend who wanted one of the bodies Nikon had available with a package rebate, and we split the savings. We each got $200 off. That's about the best way I know to save on new Nikon stuff.

Refurb is a good way to save money though, or good quality used.
