At a concert

Our club was asked to take some photos at a local gig NO flash allowed. Using my D5100 set at ISO 4000 I was pleased with the results. Overall I have been very happy with the performance of this camera in low light conditions. Comments would be helpful please if you think it could have been done better.

Nice job. Concert lighting can be very difficult to work with, especially if there are spot lights on individual musicians as the EV range can be rather wide.

Thanks. I truthfully was not looking for praise but as I said this was the first time of using at a high ISO and really wanted to know if it could have been done differently or better.

Have you tried to recover the shadows? If you can recover even 2EV, then you can reduce the ISO and meter for the bright lights.
