Sedona trip

We are going to sedond next weekend ffor a photo op trip any suggestions. one helicopter and one jeep tour at sunset, otherwise on our own. Your thoughts on lenses and I haven't tried the scene setting mode such as sunset. Any ideas on this as well.

You want the 18-105mm or 18-35mm for the vistas. That should do you as well for the helicopter. It's almost all I used in Yosemite. Grab one of the long ones just in case.

Depending on the helicopter and where you sit (to balance weight), you might want to consider one of the "all-in-one" zooms. My wife and I were on a helicopter tour last week (see here) and I was glad I had one. There were 4 of us on the tour. The two wives sat in the front with the pilot and the other husband and I each sat in a rear corner.

Since you shoot DX, the new Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro might warrant investigation. (I'm not sure if it is available yet.)
