V2 focusing selections

I've been birding with the J3 and the selections are limited. I like using the 9 point spread on my D600 and was wondering what the choices are on the V2. This may help me decide on the V3 if they follow the V2 options.

No clue - I almost always use spot focus. I'm on a V1 which when not on spot has many focus points, 9, I don't know. V1 also has "face" detect and follow.

Yea it seems to be the same with the J3, one spot (not enough) or the complete screen which is too much. Knowing this will make or break the V3 for me.

The online manual is out and the V3 has the same focusing options as the V2 and J3. That kills it for me, hopefully the V4 will take it to the next level.
