Thought I'd give panning a go, wasn't sure if the D800 would be any good for the job (it's not really advertised as a sports camera) or whether I'd manage to to do it right, but it was local and a good day out.. I'll try it on an even slower shutter next time :)

Nice. With cars in motion, like birds in flight, you want to give the car room to drive into. Try to allow more room in front of the car than behind it. I shoot several Porsche events yearly and find that 1/100 to 1/160 work for me, depending on how close I am to the action. This one's at 1/125, f/13, ISO 100, D600, 70-200 2.8 VRII @ 160mm

Thanks for the tip.. as this was a practice for me (and I really should have read more about it first) 1/60 or 1/80 and I had my ISO at 200.

I just had a quick look at some of the others I did and yeah I can see what you mean, this one (although not very good) does like like it's going somewhere although I thought it had too much space around it..
