D610 studio flash issue - any thoughts

Hi All
Have just got a 610 two weeks ago. When using radio triggers to set off studio flash on the first exposure the flash units fire, the shutter actuates but the frame is black! Next frames onward are fine. You then put camera down for a couple of minutes and the same happens all over again!
Any thoughts?:confused:

Studio flash normally does not have any standby feature, but if speedlights, it sounds like the lights are going into standby. First flash try wakes them up, but too late to contribute. They should have menu to disable standby (but which can be hard on battery life).
