Distant Deer

I saw these deer enjoying a bit of early spring sunshine last week... Unfortunately they were that far away they just out of reach using my 55-300mm... Does this mean I need to buy the Sigma 150-500mm??


At 300mm...



And a heavy crop.....

Maybe just wait until the deer come closer? It's much cheaper. j/k

I don't think a 500mm would get you close enough judging by this. I have a similar problem with the moons of Jupiter on my 70-200 with teleconvertor!!

I do often get closer shots but generally the closer you are, the less they stay still!! They posed here for about 5 minutes, but there was no way they would have stayed if I'd crossed into the field - Here I was hidden in the trees, but as you can see, they knew I was there.
