Newbe with a question about lens adapters

I have recently purchased a Nikon D3200 and would like to purchase a lens adapter for an older AF-MD telephoto lens that I bought for my Minolta Maxxum 500si .It is a Sigma AF-MD 70-300 F4-5.6DL Macro Super. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go on ebay and get a Nikon lens. The distance between the lens flange and the sensor of the Nikon is shorter than other companies, so in order to get the lens to focus at infinity, you have to get an adapter with lenses in between. These do degrade the image.

Much simpler to sell your old lens and get the right one that will fit and work with your Nikon.
