"Lens not attached"

I recently purchased this camera and a bower 8mm f3.5 fisheye lens for it and I was exited to try it out but I get a "lens not attached." I think it's because it's on Auto focus. The problem is, I don't know how to switch it to Manual. Can anyone give me instructions how to switch it? Thank you

Turn the aperture dial on the lens down to f/22.

You have to shoot the camera in Manual. You probably have in the Auto or Program mode. Switch it to M. If you need helpo with that it will be in the manual that came with your camera or you can download it from the Nikon site.

I'm sorry I've replied so late. Thank you so much! I did need to turn it to manual thought it's quite embarrassing It didn't cross my mind to turn the knob. I was looking for the auto/manual setting in the menu instead!

This is message on the Nikon lower end series comes if the lense has no CPU. On my D3300 if I put older manual focus lense, it says lense not attached, but still functions when the dial is in manual mode.
