Just wanted to show you can get good results with a D7000 and high ISO.

Nikon 80-200mm 2.8
1000 shutter speed
f/2.8

10,000 iso

That's better than I've ever gotten with the D7000. Were you shooting RAW or JPEG? I've never shot with the D7000 in JPEG mode with high ISO, and given that it's now an IR camera I don't think I can test it validly. LOL

Here is a couple more at 10,000 iso.
As you can see there is some color loss. But if you needed to use it you could get by with it.
BTW it's a great feeling when the paper pays you to take pictures of your daughter :)

That's impressive at that iso...I'd be thrilled to take any picture for the paper... taking one of your kid for the paper is priceless!

Thanks.
Now you do have to use some noise reduction with the D7000 and high iso but not much .
I shoot sports for a media company that runs about ten papers in the state. I've been blessed with a 6'3" daughter that has dominated the conference she played in and has had 20+ colleges come after her. So the paper wanted several pics of her throughout the basketball season and it was nice to get paid to take pics of my daughter.
