I am very much an amateur who got a D5200 last summer as a gift. I just bought a Nikkor ED 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D AF VR lens from a reputable ebay dealer, but I cannot get the autofocus to work. The lens is set on autofocus lock, and the autofocus works on my camera with the other lenses that came with it. Have I bought the wrong lens, or what am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help!

Darn, I thought it was too good to be true. Thanks for the info!

Couple things you can do... As Flugel suggested, you can sell it yourself, assuming that the ebay dealer will not take a return... Especially if you are looking to use it for an all-around lens..

Now if you are planning to us it for 300-400 range for wildlife, you can probably manual focus for that... Try it if that is the case...

I learned my lesson with this one. The eBay seller does have a return policy, I made sure of that before I purchased. It was $850 Flugel. I bought it for birding purposes, and my skill level is nowhere near what I need for manual operations.
