Stiff Focusing Ring

My older 35-70mm (and forgive me if this thread is in the wrong place) has suddenly gotten a bit stiff when I focus it. It wasn't like that when I originally purchased- it was a bit stiff compared to my 18-55mm, but nothing I couldn't stand or handle. I tried to use it today and could barely move the ring without having to '2 hand it'.

Is it a fixable thing? What should I do? I don't want to give up on it, as it is a good little lens and it doesn't seem like something that would mean the end of it. Any advice would be great

My advice would be to take it to a Nikon tech and have him take it apart and fix it properly. What you describe doesn't sound normal at all....nor good for the lens! Just my opinion.

Both my 24-70 and 70-200 started to stiffen after 2 years (approx 90 weddings) then the 24-70 locked at 50mm! I had to force it. No choice but to send it to Nikon service Uk. Great service, arrived back in 10 days Like new! Cost me £135. For each lens.
