battery for d5300

This may be a really dumb question, and I apologize in advance, but just want to make sure...

The battery for the 5300 (EN-EL14a), I read is the same externally as for the 5100 (EN-EL14), but modified to give it even longer life. I currently have 2 batteries for my 5100, but will be sending one in for my trade in. I want to make sure I can use my extra battery, at least for now, with the 5300 as a backup, and do not need to purchase an additional 'a' battery right away.

just want to make sure i can use the EN-EL14 battery on the d5300 so i do not need to but an additional EN-EL14a battery (the body will come with one) at this time.
