Sorry, the first one isn't working for me as the star/fairy/[insert top of choice] has been cut off. I like the effect in the second one, though - how did you do that?

The first shot is only intended to set the stage for the second so you know what you are looking at. Next time I'll be sure to get that last one inch of the top branch for you. (Sheesh!)

To answer your question, the second shot was taken by setting the camera to a 2 second exposure and zooming out while the shutter was open. Stopping along the way (zoom, stop, zoom, stop) creates the dot effects.
