I am completely new to the dslr world and will be purchasing the D3200 as my first real camera. I intend to use the camera for a lot of videos over the next two years for travel. I will be heading to Africa in december, Brazil for the 2014 world cup and the Philippines in 2015. I there a specific lens type that results in better video, or is the default lens kit fine? Thanks

I personally would use primes unless you want to zoom in. But your list of activities would require several primes especially the Brazil World Cup. the 18-55 I don't think would make it work.
You might want to get a 35 AF-S f1.8 and pair that with your kit lens or if you have the funds, buy a 16-85 AF-S VR along with a 55-300 AF-S VR or a 70-300 AF-S VR
