Will it "work"? Yes. But you will be fully manual in terms of setting aperture and metering (i.e. you'll need to shoot in Manual mode and may need to meter externally or use your best guess and adjust because it will not set aperture for you).

It will perfectly well on the D600, obviously you will only have manual focus, but it can be used in the Manual or aperture priority mode, the meter won't work in program or shutter priority, but in manual or aperture priority you will get centre weighted and spot metering, matrix metering won't work.
