How do I turn on Date Imprint

I want to have the date M/D/Yr imprinted in the lower right hand corner of my D3100 pictures. It used to work then it stopped. Obviously I did something in the SETUP menu, but I can not figure out what. Please suggest a solution. If you can refer to a page in the NIKON D3100 Manual that is on line, that would be all the better.

Menu button, Setup menu, Date Imprint option.

I do that. The Date Imprint option only offers OFF. There is no ON choice. Here is what page 147 says: "At settings other than Off, the selected option is indicated by a
d icon in the information display." But I can not get any other setting. I am taking in FINE JPG format.

Are you shooting RAW? No can date imprint on RAW files like you can JPG's.

I am not using RAW format. I am using JPG.

Not sure then... If it were me I'd do a reset and see where that got me.

RESET did it. Why didn't I think of that? Do you think it will keep track of the date from day to day or need I set the present date before shooting?
