Wasps

These were shot near a fountain today where dozens of wasps were cooling off from the heat. I parked the camera near the fountain and just waited. I figured if I didn't bother them they wouldn't bother me.

the middle one looks like he has a handlebar mustache... lol

Great find there, nicely taken, but first prize goes to nature for creating such strange things for us to shoot.

About 3 months ago a queen moved into a small hole drilled in the wall of the workshop where I work. The workers began building a paper awning over the entrance. It ended up like something out of a sci-fi film but before I could get photos, someone set fire to it. This is the last record I have of it. Though the wasps have come back, there has been no more building this late in the summer.
