lens hood??

is there only the one offical nikon lens hood that fits the kit 18-55 lens?

What do you mean "official" ???? It certainly isn't the only one that "fits" the 52mm screw...

Nikon say (HERE) the Nikon HB-45 hood (accessories).

B&H offers this third party Vello HB-45 for the 18-55.

Note that it must be wide enough not to block the wide 18mm view. You could always use any more narrow hood on a more narrow view however.

i bought a screw on one and it's showing in the images. does the proper lens hood hb-45 not fit to outside lens sonot screwed in?

Any screw-in or clamp-on hood that fits 52mm will "fit". Whether or not it blocks light in the corners of images depends on a) its width, and b) the lens zoom angle.

Go with the OEM hood. Keep an eye on ebay for a deal

This one is tulip shaped and designed for focal lengths greater than 15mm. Priced at less than $5.

The problem with any screw-in tulip shaped hood on the DX AF-S 18-55mm is that the front of the lens rotates as it focuses so the petals will not be oriented correctly which will cause vignetting.
