Number of pics taken?

You need to download and use either Opanda or PhotoME, both are free and read the exif data from your last shot untouched, you can just take a pic, plug in the cable and read the data from the last shot. It will be buried amongst other data but should be there.

I downloaded and installed PhotoMe, It brings back a CHUNK of information but if you scroll down to Manufacture Notes you will find shutter count. The D3000 resets back to 0000 in your file names after it reaches 9999. On my D3000 I'm past the 9999 mark and can confirm that it will return a number greater than 10000. I would also recommend that your anti virus software is current and up and running if you are going to download anything from a unknown WEB site that offers free software.

Note to McAfee users:
You may get a virus warning the first time you run this program for:

Artemis!13176C3021E1 (Trojan)

The best I can tell this is a false positive, where as there is no info on the web and only is tripped by McAfee.
