Shot 15 miles south of Wendover, NV with no other visible light in the southern sky. The amazing thing is the the amount of light given off by the Milky Way at night when you're away from everything.

Stellarium - Free computer program to see exactly where the Milky Way would be at any given time and where the moon would be for dark sky.

Location - Dark sky

Camera - D7100 triggered by remote. Mirror up first then open shutter

Lens - Tokina AT-X116 Pro DX-II 11-16mm f/2.8

Setting - ISO 2000, 45 seconds, f/2.8

Edited in CS6 to cut down atmospheric haze, increase contrast, and color correct for light in the atmosphere we can't see but shows up in the picture as yellow, red, or sometimes green.
