Hello everyone,

By starting this thread, I hope to stimulate "Portrait Photography".

The point is not beauty but BEAUTY! It is not important if the baby, the son,
the wife or grand-pa is beautiful or not but to see them beautifully!

All flowers are different and so are people.
It is not the flower but the light that is falling on it that reveals it!

Funny faces, grins, rockers, devilish, surprised, down-right-dirty, angry,
sexy expressions…

All kind of portraits. Nature or studio. Kids or mother-in-laws… All of them!

PORTRAITS BUT NO SNAP SHOTS!

Please, always remember where we are:

Self portrait - testing out 3 light system after arrival of third SB-800. Lighting came out OK, but I'm pretty goofy looking! If I could just get my wife or my dogs to pose for me........

This post is for people's portrait!

Hi Jim,

So, you provided yourself the proof that your flash is working… get some real portraits…
some pictures that are the best you can do! …even self portraits!

Indeed, you a few weeks older than your avatar but we still recognize
you always-ready-for-fun eyes!

Shoot…
Shoot at will…
Shoot anybody…
Shoot to immortalize!

Have a good time!

Hello Fred,

The next best thing to this take is another one… or do you mean that this was pure luck?

Get her at other times… with other expressions… in other situations! More! More! More!

THIS IS A SNAP SHOT… THIS POST IS FOR PORTRAITS!

Have a good day…

May I introduce you my older son Bénédict, 19.

He is playing hockey (right defence) and digs, above all, having a good time!

This picture was taken without flash in an art gallery.

kodiak, is this forum meant for people portraits or for critique of people portraits. This old dog is confused since we have a portrait forum.

Well, Ron, I was not aware of that…

What I meant to do is a place where portraits are done with that purpose.

Not obvious snap shots but real portraits.

Is this in conflict with anything?

not for me. To me your forum title was not clear on its purpose.

Should I give the parents their money back?

Of course not Fred,

What i meant, and I see now that I was rather clumsy in believing that everyone would
understand, was real portraits so that techniques and tips could be shared!

Portraits anywhere but real portraits!

I am sorry, there were already some cool shots that came in but…

Zodiak - I really appreciate how you try to encourage other photographers to participate, learn, and have fun with this craft as a hobby or as a means to earn money.

I am not the moderator for this thread but I'm sure one of the moderators can change the title and/or include specific details / requirements in the beginning of the thread so that only solo portrait of people or maybe even a group / family portraits are allowed.

A separate thread of people shots which includes snapshots, sports, photo journalism, concert, etc with their favorite portrait lens may also spark some interest. Just my suggestion.

Maybe you can take some time and post a narrative of your definition of Portrait and exactly what it does and doesn't entail...
