Hello,
This might be a stupid question. I am still learning. I have a D600 and I bought the AF S Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8D so i can shoot in low light conditions like a church. So, my question when i am shooting why I can only shoot at 22 ? If I release the lock and move the ring to 16,11,8, 5.6, 4, 2.8 and 1.8 the camera does not shoot and i get an FEE word flashing on the display.
Thanks for your help.

Leave the lens at f/22 and locked in place, and use the camera / front command dial to change the aperture. This is the method required for all D lenses.

Someone here pointed out to me that on my d7000 there is a setting to use the aperture ring. I never knew it was there. It only works in A or M mode. I looked in the d600 manual, menu item F5 Customize Command Dials -Aperture setting. I'd leave it as is though and lock it at f22 as 480sparky said.
