Hi there,

I have a nikon d300 with Sigma APO 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM and sigma dc 18 50mm 2.8 ex macro.

Now, should I buy an
AF Nikkor 35-70mm 2.8D for $150?

Thank you for the help.

I agree with Dave and Mike.

I have the predecessor of that lens, the AF 35-70 f/2.8 (non-D). It's a nice lens, heavy, but has a problem. The aperture ring loosens up which can affect focus. I understand the aperture ring loosening is a problem with the model that I have, but I'm not sure if it's a problem with the D version. As it is, I rarely use it. I have the AF 18-55 & AF-55-200 which came with my D3000 originally, and a non-AF AIS 35mm f/1.4, & the early AF 85mm f/1.8. Those fit a lot of my photo needs, and I do not miss not using the 35-70.

The 35-70 2.8D is a sharp lens and a steal at $150 if it's in good condition. That model usually sells for around $300. I'm not sure you need it with what you already have though.

Yup. Basically, if its going to help your photographis in some way, buy. If you have no need and are just tempted by price, I'd skip it.
