How come stuffl like this never happens when I DO have a camera handy?

Maybe I need to carry one with me all the time. This is Mother Nature at her most powerful. We get a fair amount of waterspouts down here in the late spring and summer and of course with hurricanes, but I have never been this close to one, and of course never with a camera HANDY!!!

We got a few down here out in Galveston. We had 4 on Saturday. I wish I was out there to catch one as well.

Last year I watched one form in Pensacola Bay and head south, right for the I-10 bridges. It crossed both bridges (each with 3 lanes, one east and the other west) like they were not even there. Fortunately it was early in the morning and traffic was still light. It could have really ruined some driver's day had they been in the path when it crossed their bridge!.
