Question about Nikon DSLR objectives

Greetings everything,

This is my very first post in your forums so please to meet you all!!

I was told that nikon DSLRs only support nikon objectives and nothing else unlike other DSLR's ( for instance canon )

Can you please be kind and tell me how true is that?

Thank you ^.^

Nikon DSLRs will take other lens brands too: Sigma, Tamron, Tokina and quite a few more.

Maybe what you are referring to is that since the lens mount distance is critical when it comes to focusing at infinity, it is possible to get an adapter to use Nikon lenses on a Canon body where it is not possible to use a Canon lens on a Nikon body.

But when it comes to third party lenses, as long as you get one with the Nikon mount, it will work on a Nikon.

Now, with Nikon, you can use their older manual focus lenses where Canon changed their lens mount at a time and you can't use old FD lenses on their DSLR.

Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone for your Asnwers!

And I'm really sorry for the honest typo I didn't mean to be rude and say "everyting".

I'm not a "canon troll" btw. It was something that me and my friends discussed.

I bought a nikon D3100.

Thank you once more everyone and I again, I apologies for unintentionally saying "things".

Cheers.
