Battery Drain

All of a sudden my D300 runs down the battery over night with no use. I bought a new charger and 2 new batteries (Nikon) The camera will run the battery down over night with no lens attached only the body cap. I do not know what made the camera use the charge like this, before I got lots of life from the batteries. Any thoughts?

#1 tip: remove batteries from camera when not in use.

#2 tip: the D300 has a new firmware upgrade that was recently released.

#3 tip: I would write Nikon and ask them about this problem. They may just have a fix for it.

Thanks ...I have the latest firmware..... guess I will have to call Nikon as this was never a problem until 2 weeks ago.

They could have developed a fault internally. It may not be the camera. Maybe just a bad batch of batteries.

Update .... loaded the latest firmware (seems like it was to include the new 800mm) I had 1.1 before. Seems the two "New Nikon" batteries I got from ebay are fakes so that leaves me with my original EN-EL3e with is behaving like the other two. I will order a genuine battery from Nikon and see if that changes my problem.
