why the snorkel on the suvs? Here you will see the exhaust run up thru the hood on vehicles that work in the grain fields so they do not set a fire.

The normal placement of the air intake duct on GM vehicles is just behind the front bumper. If you are the following vehicle, you will be pulling a heck of a lot of fine grain sand and dirt into the filter airbox. The snorkel is so that the engine gets clean air and so the filter does not become restricted too quickly.

Snorkel is there for the deep water crossings that we do, it stops water from getting into the air intake and into the motor which if it does causes it to hydraulic and cause major damage.
