Sigma 120-400 wont focus in movie mode

Hey guys..1st post here. Love my d800e. I've had my Sigma 120-400 for almost a year now and noticed it stopped auto focusing about 80% of the time in movie mode. Works perfectly shooting pics. It was working at a soccer game...then just stopped. I contacted Sigma and they said it sounds like the camera and to reset the camera to factory settings and try again.

I used my Nikon 14-24 2.8 for a video test and worked perfectly. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions?

Figured I'd ask you guys 1st. before responding to Sigma.

Thanks for your help.

I think you already narrowed down the problem.

Both 14-24mm f2.8 and 120-400mm AF when taking still images. 14-24mm works in video and the sigma doesn't.

I never use autofocus in video mode. It isn't reliable with most lenses. Some it is ok but mostly not. Manual is the way.

Thanks for your reply John. I've been using manual focus recently since it's not working, but haven't figured out a good method of focusing while changing my focal length at the same time. Mostly for soccer games--and it was good while it worked. I do love this lens for still images.
