Hey everyone. After the 35mm days I went into the dark side with point &shoots figuring the HAD to be the best as they had Zeiss lenses! Well after attending a wedding a few years ago with my daughter and discovering afterwards that my pictures were blurry and my daughters were stellar with her Canon DSLR I entered the world with a new DSLR myself. I chose a D90 and dumped the kit lens for a 17-55 f2.8 Nikon, a 50mm f1.8 Nikon and a Tamron 70-300.
I've taken an entry level photography class and I've been trying to understand if a new D7000 or 7100 would really be a step up for me for general photography. I rarely print anything above a 5x7 typically hate flash use Lightroom 4 and simply store pix on the computer. Half the salespeople I talk to say I'll never see the difference and the other half say I will. I certainly am cognizant of the feature difference but I'm not sure which way to go. Seems like the 7100 mega count is overkill for the apsc format but I'm also a newb with just enough knowledge to be dangerous!

Welcome aboard. I can see you with a D7100. I'd consider that to be a nice upgrade. Take your time and enjoy your D90, which is a great camera, by the way. Your other option would be to step up into a full-framed camera, at some point.
