Springtime in Boston: A Photo Essay

Actually went out after work today to shoot some stuff around downtown. Cold evening, but nice overcast. All of these images were taken with the Nikon D800 and 85 mm 1.4 G lens. This was an exercise in sticking with just one focal length.

Note the flag at half mast in tribute to those lost in last week's bombings.

Bear with me, I took a lot of these magnolia trees which are famous on this particular street.

Came across a small tribute to those lost, probably put there by a grade school class.

By the way, autofocus was useless with the 85 mm trying to shoot the flowers and getting the focal plane where I wanted it so I switched off the autofocus on the lens for all the flower shots.

A while back I would pick a different lens each time I went out and would only shoot that lens. I would do it with places too. Like the Zoo, One time with the 18-55, the next time the 55-200 and the next time with the 40mm macro. It is a great test of creativity to see what you come up with.

Great shots of Springtime in Boston
