How many Gb to buy

​NEw here. Sorry if this has already been asked. I think I get the math, but I want smart people to confirm. In the Nikon D7100, how many RAW files fit per 1GB SD card? I have always shot 12 GB files on compact flash cards and I need all new cards/batteries if I switch to this awesome new D7100. I want to know how many GIG to buy if I want to shoot 1000 frames in a very long 12 hour day. I would rather use the second slot as JPEG backup, but what do you think? What capacity and speed are you guys using?

RAW lossless compressed 14bit will yield and approx file size of 28.5MB and on an 8GB card you could get ~148 pictures on
You would therefore need a 64GB card to store the 1000 pictures you're after
If you're using the 2nd slot for JPG backups on Fine & Large, then you'd get ~1000 onto a 16GB card

In terms of card speeds, I use Sandisk Extreme cards @ 45MB/s and they serve me well
