P7700 NRW files and ViewNX2 (Won't Open)

I downloaded some P7700 NRW (Raw) files from a review site and tried to inspect them in ViewNX2. The files open to view and can be converted to jpegs with no problem. The manipulation functions in ViewNX2 however are inactive.

I have the latest version (2.7.4 -64 bit) and did a clean install. This version has no problem with NEFs from my D5000 and D70.

Anyone else having a problem with NRW files? Otherwise, ViewNX2 works fine for me and the price is right.

I ordered a P7700 but am concerned now, that I won't be able to use RAW. I don't want to buy any new software for it either.

Any insight you can offer? Thanks!

I just took delivery on a new P7700 only to find out that Lightroom 3 doesn't open NRW either. Frankly I was shocked. I run Windoze XP so LR4 isn't an option for me. My (temporary) solution was to install the free Adobe DNG converter. Once in DNG format I can load the images into LR3. It's an extra step but at least I'm able to shoot in RAW/NRW.

Not sure whether ViewNX reads DNG but it might be worth looking into.
