Random creation of new sub folders

Hi, my camera keeps creating new subfolders all the time, each with random numbers of photos. Eg. 312 photos in one folder, then it create a new sub folders. I did not used to do this. Any suggestions?

Do you have your file sequencing set so it resets every time you turn the camera off/on (i.e. it starts with DSC_0001)? If so, the camera will have to build a new folder each time.

Maybe, although I don't think it happens everytime.
Can you tell me how to check?
