External Microphone

Hi.

Has anyone used an external microphone with the D5200?

I have not received my D5200 but I am reading up about it in the mean time.

I am quite keen to use it for video and am considering an external mic.

While looking around I came across this video where the reviewer tests the Rode Video Mic Pro.

He mentions that there is a hiss in the background that he experiences on all Nikons, but not on Canons.

Do any of you have any experience with external mic's on this camera?

Which work well and which don't?

I use the Nikon ME-1 mic which works very well and it doesn't require a battery to operate it.
