A "Hello" from Fen

Hi folks,

I'm a Freelance Photographer, based around London. When I'm not doing that I work as a web/graphic designer with the occasional bit of 3D animation. But after a bit of a hectic year I've decided to take a break from the web stuff and go to college as a "Adult Learner" to study photography as all I know is self taught and not having the bit of paper that says you can take photos (aka qualifications ) it can be quite difficult getting work. Start on Monday

I specialise in Nature, Travel, Corporate, Architecture, Product Photography and some Stock Photography. I also do a lot of photo restoration for corporate and private clients.

I've been using Photoshop since the early Beta version back in 1989, so might be able to help people with problems there.

Marques Used: I started off years ago with a Minolta SR-T101, then a Pentax ME Super both of which I still have. For several years after that I used a Minolta Dynax 7xi.

As Digital Technologies progressed I jumped ship to Canon as Minolta were nowhere with their digital cameras. I sold most of my Minolta film stuff and bought a Canon 20D, a few lenses and a flash.

Was happy with that for some time, but eventually wanted to go full frame. Problem was that Canon were having a lot of problems with their full frame cameras at the time so I started looking elsewhere...

After looking and testing various cameras (and a little win on the lottery!) I jumped ship again and went to the Dark Side and bought a Nikon D3.

I've got a few photography websites. The first is Fenris Photography. This is my photographic website, showing people what I can do for them. I've also got a Flickr site where I upload lots of different stuff - Fen at Flickr. Feel free to add me as a contact.

I think that's about it. Looking forward in taking part in the forums

Hey Fen .... Welcome to the "light side" ... it's all about light isn't it? Glad to have you aboard and look forward seeing your work, and discussing different aspects of photography/digital imaging. Glad you made the jump to Nikon ...

Hi Fen and welcome. I look forward to your contributions on the forum. So are you primarily using Photoshop for post processing our have you added Lightroom or another DAM product?

Hi Folks,

Many thanks for the warm welcomes :)

Eduard - I mostly use LR2 for post processing. Rare for the need to transfer the image into Photoshop unless I need to do some heavy editing. I find that Lightroom really is the perfect tool for photographers

I couldn't agree more. You owe it to yourself to upgrade to LR3. It is really really good.

Hello Fen. Welcome to the Nikonites Community. It's a good place to talk photography and find information. Post some of your work when you get a chance. It would be interesting to see the work you do.
Happy shooting, :)
Joseph

Hi there, Fen, and welcome to Nikonites. Hope you enjoy it here, and looking forward to seeing more of your work. By the way....I'm one of the few people on this planet that is "photoshop challenged" :) I try to use Paint Shop Digital X3 Pro, but I'm not all that good at it, therefor I don't do a lot (if any) post processing. With my shots, what you see is what I saw through the view finder. :)
